A Snow Storm in Yosemite

To Main Page Travel Page Yosemite Ahwahnee
It was a dreary, rainy day when we arrived in Yosemite. We had come with our dear friends Lani and Roger to experience the famous Bracebridge dinner at the Ahwahnee Hotel. This gala dinner and entertaining presentation in the evening was extraordinaire and worth the trip alone. However, besides the wonderful ambience of the hotel and marvelous food, Mother Nature was to provide us with a feast for the eyes.

After a peaceful sleep and breakfast in the grand dining-room, the four of us decided to take a walk to Mirror Lake.e The weather was misty and the scenery reflected this along Tenaya Creek.

However, on our way back from  the lake, it started to snow. At first it was a bit wet, then the flakes got bigger, and by late afternoon the landscape turned grey all around us.

We watched from our cozy hotel room as the snow continued to coat the world in a white blanket.

When we woke up the next day the scenery had changed again from grey to a splendid black and white. The snow covered the trees, paths and mountains in tranquility, while the Merced River and Half Dome presented a spectacle of their own.

The sun finally peaked over the ridge south of Half Dome and the scenery was grand as we watched from our hotel and strolled through the fresh snow.

We'll have to come back again some day.
