If you are using a compound miter saw, you might be interested in the two Excel spreadsheets I developed to calculate the miter and bevel angles for cutting compound joints. These spreadsheets will also perform other calculations that may be of use to you. For example, I have included a quick way to check the "spring angle" of your molding by making two measurements and entering them as explained in the Excel sheets.
The two sections are separated as follows:

Section 1  Crown molding on horizontal ceilings and compound angle cutting
Section 2  Crown molding on vaulted ceilings

Click on either one above.
  •   Here is a sample from the first page:

The following calculations are based on cutting the molding
lying flat on the bed of a compound miter saw.
Only the red numbers can be entered:
Crown molding angle  a   = 52 deg.
Wall angle     b  = 90 deg.
Miter angle M needs to be: 31.6 deg.
Bevel angle B needs to be: 33.9 deg.
  • When the input is changed, the results may be what you are looking for:

Crown molding angle a = 52 deg.
Wall angle       b = 235 deg.
Miter angle M needs to be: -17.8 deg.
Bevel angle B needs to be: -21.3 deg.
