Our cruise on the Wind Surf continued to five Italian ports. They are listed below. Click on any of the following red labels or pictures for details:

The Island of Ponza

This was a new itinerary for our ship. Ponza is a small island west of Naples. Once a fishing village, it is now becoming quite an attraction for Italians trying to get away from the mainland.

Amalfi

Amalfi, a town along the coast of Italy, has charm, history and great scenery. While we toured the town, visited the ancient church and took a tour to Pompeii, the ship set sail for Sorrento.

Pompei and Sorrento

We were surprised to learn that the ruins of Pompeii are so extensive in area and that there was much more than the "mummies" to see. Sorrento was our last stop for some shopping and the port where we met our ship again.

Livorno

The ship docked in Livorno where we joined four British friends for a tour of Pisa and Florence. Our private driver also took us to a special Italian restaurant for a late lunch that we will never forget.

Portofino, the jewel

Much has been said about Portofino. It is indeed a marvelous little port to visit, but it is also spoiled by all the tourism. A couple hours here was enough. A bus ride to St. Margherita and the walk back was just as interesting.
