We
took our family for another week at the Lair of the Bear, our summer camp in the Sierra Nevadas. This is where Sharon spent a week each year when she was a youngster. It was here where our two daughters had fun during their pre-teens and teen years; and now we were here for our second year with the grand kids. So what is so special about the Lair? |

First of all, the Lair is a great family camp with all sorts of activities for kids and adults alike. You can play some tennis or go for a swim in the large pool. You can play basketball, shuffle board, baseball, etc. | ![]() |

You can throw a pot, eat spareribs, or climb a tree. Of course, if you want, you can do nothing. |

We always like to go for a hike. Strawberry Lake is a favorite place to go to and the trail around the lake is about three miles. If you really want to add a couple miles, walk to the lake as well. The kids like to go boating and the camp staff will take them fishing. There is a beach where you can swim or just play. |

After dinner there is always an interesting talk by an invited guest, or a show put on by the staff, and even a "talent show" where everyone has a chance to participate. |

All and all, the Lair of the Bear is not a bad place to spend a week of relaxation and it is a sad occasion when the staff sings to us a farewell song for our last breakfast. |
