Exploratorium in San Francisco

   To Family Fun

We spent a day in the San Francisco and visited the old Palace of Fine Arts that houses the Exploratorium. It is a fun and educational place with lots of hands-on exhibits and demonstrations about our lives. At least Katie, Emily and Brian thought it was interesting.

There are exhibits about DNA and how it can be modified (do it yourself, Brian), evolution (gold fish, for example), microscopes to peer through, and this cloth made with snake skins.

The Exploratorium deals mostly with our senses and has numerous stations where you can find out about our hearing and eye sight. There is a demonstration about dissecting a cows eye and some playful optical illusions. The little tunnel with rocks will test your skills in walking without making sound.

You can learn about electricity and magnetism, mathematics and, of course a favorite with the kids, about surface tension such as in soap bubbles.
