We wanted to have our whole family together and have fun with the grand kids. So, finally, in 2005, we decided to go to Kauai. Too bad Sharon's mother could not join us; then again it might have been a bit too hectic for her.

Our older daughter, Sandra, and husband, BJ, joined us with three of our five grand-children at the San Francisco airport.

In Honolulu we met up with our younger daughter, Susan, Troy and their two young boys. It was neat having everyone there for our final destination, Kauai.

The fellows each rented a van, so we had plenty of room for kids, women and luggage. That also worked well when we wanted to go separate ways during the week.

We picked up some groceries and a few other things before heading to our one week lodging.

We had rented two condo units, each with two bedrooms. Sandra and BJ had a garden view unit and the kids had their own room. The rest of us were in one next to a large lawn and the beach. This turned out to be an ideal setup for all of us. We could just walk right out of the back door, play and have fun.

These condo's are along the east coast and are part of the Radisson Hotel complex. We had all the pool and other privileges of the other guests, but a lot more privacy and closer beach access. Later that afternoon we enjoyed a couple Mai-Tais and swam in the main pool while a small band and dancers performed the hula.

We had our own kitchens to make breakfast but also prepared a few dinners. BJ had gone shopping and found a great barbeque for about $20. We used it several times for chicken, hot dogs and spare-ribs. The ladies were always busy making lunches and feeding the brood.
