Katie and Emily stayed with us for a few days and we all decided it might be neat to go to Santa Cruz and do the "Boardwalk". We checked in at a motel, about three blocks from the beach, had some snacks and bought an all day pass to have some fun.

It was foggy when we arrived. But the rides were already in full swing, so the gals decided to buy a full day pass and first explore the layout from the tram way. After that it was serious stuff. Alas, Emily was old enough, but not tall enough for some ot the better rides. She took it in good stride and whimpered only ones or twice.

We stopped for lunch, of course, and had a corn-dog (that awful thing hanging on a stick, covered with yellow stuff that tastes so good). Then it was off for more rides. Well, Opa did do some rides; like the water-log-fall-to-scare-the-hell-out-off-you.

Emily had a long reach to grab the rings but held her own when she threw it into the clown's face and rang the bell. Now it was time for the ferric-wheel; then some more snacks (some kind of frozen ice-cream-little-bitty-bites-of-candy).
