Lake Tahoe and some fun in the snow

On the spur of the moment we decided to go to Lake Tahoe, do some skiing and perhaps go snow-mobiling. The weather was great and so was the scenery. Monday and Tuesday were ideal times to go because there were very few people on the road and slopes. Highway 88 and Hope Valley are great spots to take some pictures of the mountains and aspen trees.

We stayed at Harrah's and had a good room with a nice view of the lake.

Sharon gave up skiing a few years ago (she wants to save her legs for tennis), but Jay had to try out his old dynasoar skis one more time. Afterall, the price is a lot less for a lift ticket when you are over 65.

A gondola takes you to the top of the ridge and from there a large number of lifts take you to the top (almost 11,000 feet elevation). Some can be quite steep.

Notice Sharon waving a final farewell. She went shopping and played a few slot machines.

Heavenly Valley has ski runs in both states (California and Nevada) and the views along the ski runs are quite spectacular to the west as well as east.

After a few hours of skiing, it was good to relax, take the gondola back and join Sharon for a nice dinner and a little gambling that evening.

The following morning we were going to do some snow-mobiling; however, when we drove to the golf course where you could rent them, the shop was closed. I guess they don't expect much business on a Tuesday.
